Xylem are a type of complex vascular tissue found in plants. (Belonging to pteridophytes, gymnosperms and angiosperms.)

Their soul function is to conduct water and minerals from roots to ariel parts of the plant.

They are made up of 4 types of cells, namely -

1. Xylem tracheids

2. Xylem vessels / trachea

3. Xylem parenchyma

4. Xylem fibres

Out of these, only xylem parenchyma are living cells.
