Yeasts are eukaryotic single-celled microorganisms classified as members of the fungus kingdom.

Fermentation of glucose using yeast. Beer and wine are produced by fermenting glucose with yeast. Yeast contains enzymes that catalyse the breakdown of glucose to ethanol and carbon dioxide .
