Jacques Roux was a public executioner who did not like his job. He had the qualities of empathy and sympathy imbibed in him and was conscience guilt-driven because of the nature of the work that he did.
According to him, capital punishment was a punishment which should rewarded to anyone for a crime, and he believed that there was always a better way of punishing people. He was awakened to his inner voice, and felt that capital punishment should be abolished.
