We are a 2 trillion dollar economy and home to 1.25 billion people. We are the fastest growing economy in the world according to quarterly growth rates, slimly bettering China.
Our people are overly dependent on agriculture. Agriculture contributes only 17% to our economy, but employs 60% of our population. This is one of the reasons why poverty is hard to banish. We should expand our manufacturing sector as it has been neglected. Agriculture should only exist to produce food for the nation. There should be educated farmers who work scientifically to raise better crops. A higher absorption of technology in farming is necessary.
We should encourage innovation and research to create "Indian solutions" to the world's problems. For this, we need a good education sector, which gives good skills to all kinds of people- the bright kids should get universities comparable to Ivy League whereas the unskilled labour showed be skilled through "practical schools". We should not only focus on STEM subjects but also on economics, history, arts, culture, politics, law. Without the support of all these structures, our growth will be doomed and it will not reach the last man.
The growth in the Indian economy has to be sustainable and we need to be aware about pollution. It will be more expensive and harder to reverse the effects of pollution after they have blown out of proportion.
My final opinion is that India has tremendous potential to grow and solve all it's social problems. Our leadership in IT gives us an edge as systems can be digitalised cheaply, which then lead to higher accountability and efficiency.
It is an exciting time in India, because it is time we made a difference in the world!!
My answer sounds like propaganda, but I did not want to bore people with figures and statistics and economic terms which don't make sense. However you can see them in:

India is one of the fastest growing economies in the world and with China slowing down, we have a very good chance of outgrowing China within the next decade since China's working population is actually getting reduced due to their 2 child policy. As per predictions, we are supposed to be at par with the United States at around 2050 in terms of GDP.
In the words of the IMF Chief, "India is the sole bright spot in the Global Economy"
In the words of RBI Governor Dr.Rajan, "India is a one eyed king in the land of blind"
