Answer:

It is a type of error in which an instrument gives a reading when the true reading at that time is zero. For example needle of ammeter failing to return to zero when no current flows through it.

AnswEr :

Zero Error is that error when we initiate any measuring device and it doesn't start exactly from zero( 0 ).

This Error Can be of two Types :

1 ) Positive Zero Error

This error occurs when device started from rest and start measuring in positive values instead of showing zero.

Ex : Device Shows Value of 0.05 mm reading, then we will say Device has an error of +0.05. To eliminate this error we usually SUBTRACT the error value from total reading. Let's take total reading as 3.56 mm then actual reading will be 3.51mm i.e. (3.56 mm - 0.05 mm)

2 ) Negative Zero Error

This error occurs when device started from rest and start measuring in negative values instead of showing zero.

Ex : Device Shows Value of - 0.05 mm reading, then we will say Device has an error of - 0.05. To eliminate this error we usually ADD the error value from total reading. Let's take total reading as 3.56 mm then actual reading will be 3.61 mm i.e. (3.56 mm + 0.05 mm)
