●The identity element of vector space is known as zero or null vector.

● If we take the number 0 it has no magnitude and it can be given any sign.

Example:

● Two people pulling a rope in opposite directions with equal force.

● Displacement of throwing an object upward and then again holding it at the same position.

Use:

● A zero vector is a mathematical concept which helps up to define the concept of negative vectors.

● A zero vector has no magnitude , a Zero vector has no direction. Still it is called a vector because we get a zero vector after addition of two vectors
