A zygote is a eukaryotic cell formed by a fertilization event between two gametes. The zygote's genome is a combination of the DNA in each gamete, and contains all of the genetic information necessary to form a new individual

Zygote

  • A zygote seems to be the result of the union of two gametes after or during sexual reproduction.
  • It is also known as a fertilized ovum. It is also the embryo's first developmental period.
  • To become a whole foetus, the zygote goes through multiple stages including mitotic and meiotic division.
  • It is the creation of a diploid cell following fertilization of something like two gametes, sperm as well as ovum.
  • It results from the fertilization of female and male haploid gametes.
  • The zygote is diploid as well as goes through several phases of mitotic and meiotic divisions before developing into a complete foetus.
