work is said to be done when force is applied to it and moves it.In our daily life , we think of work as anything we do , but , according to science , a work is done only when a body is moved from its mean position by applying pressure .The distance between the main place , where the object is , before applying the force and the place where the object is after applying the force is called lateral displacement..

Work = Force × Distance ,W = F × D,where F is the applied force and the distance is the lateral displacement.SI unit = SI unit of Force × SI unit of distanceSI => N × mSI => Nm

Answer:-

In physics, work is the product of force and displacement. A force is said to do work if, when acting, there is a movement of the point of application in the direction of the force.

In SI base units: 1 kg⋅m2⋅s−2

SI unit: joule (J)

Other units: Foot-pound, Erg
