The Native American Civil Rights Movement was prompted by inequality and poor treatment of minority groups in the U.S. Various tribes of native Americans had been moved against their will, maltreated in cities and among society, and were disadvantaged when it came to making a better life. As more Native Americans had to leave the reservations and live in cities among whites, they were seen as different and threatening. They didn't get equal opportunities in education, housing, or the work place. As the black civil rights movement gained motion, Native Americans were brought on board to fight for their rights as American citizens.
