The French districts of Alsace and Lorraine had been taken over by the Prussians. Hence, the bulletin board displayed the news that an order had come from Berlin to teach only German in the schools of Alsace and Lorraine.

Bulletin boards were sources of all the bad news since the last two years as it give information of Lost battle ,order of commanding officers .moreover it give the news of order passed in Berlin to teach only German and not to french in the school of Alsace and Lorraine . their ultimate goal was to change the mindset of people and linguistic marginalisation
