Robinson Crusoe was a plantation owner before being shipwrecked and cast ashore on a far-away desert island, frequented by cannibals. He was on his way to Africa to get slaves. After the initial despair, he decides to settle in and take care of himself. Reading a salvaged Bible while on the island, he becomes deeply religious. He spends 28 years on the island, before being rescued.
