The changes refer to as the climatic and weather changes during the months of December we have longer nights and shorter days because that season is termed as Winter season,  and due to earths rotation the rays of the sun falls indirectly so it is cold and longer nights.

On the other hand, in the months of March and May we may experience shorter nights and longer days because it is a season of Spring followed on by Summer and due to rotation earth receives direct rays of the Sun.
