There were a lot of differences in the childhood of the grandmother and the granddaughter. The grandmother belonged to a generation were the education for women was not popular. Therefore, the grandmother never went to school and did not know how to read and write. Also, when one reads the story, one comprehends a freedom that is granted to the granddaughter, which proved there was a change in the traditions, in which women were not allowed to move out of their homes. Thus, the passage of time was a prominent factor in the differences in the childhood of the grandmother and the granddaughter.
