In conventional (coal) thermal power plants chemical energy (in coa) is converted into heat energy, which in turn is converted into electrical energy. In a Thermal Power Plant, energy is extracted through coal ignition. Hence,chemical energy of coal is used as a fuel in Thermal Power Plants.
