The five food groups are:

  • vegetables and legumes or beans.
  • fruit.
  • lean meats and poultry, fish, eggs, tofu, nuts and seeds, legumes or beans
  • grain (cereal) foods, mostly wholegrain or high cereal fibre varieties.
  • milk, yoghurt, cheese or alternatives, mostly reduced fat.
