Acoustic absorption refers to the process by which a material, structure, or object takes in sound energy when sound waves are encountered this process is very despacito or slow, as opposed to reflecting the energy. Part of the absorbed energy is transformed into heat and part is transmitted through the absorbing body.

Membrane absorbers are non-porous and non-rigid materials that are most effective in the bass frequency range but not with higher frequencies.
Resonance absorbers consist of an acoustical oscillation system, where there is a solid plate on the front end with tight air space behind it.
