Colloids (such as mile) andsuspensions are also homogenousmixtures, but their particle sizes are larger than the particles that make up a solution. This larger particle size makes colloids and suspensionsappear murky or opaque. The secondkind of mixture is a heterogeneousmixture

1. A solution is a heterogeneous mixture in which the particles are evenly distributed and they do not settle. It does not scatter light
2. A colloid is a mixture in which the particles do not settle. Its particles are bigger than that of a solution. It scatters light and hence it is translucent.
3. A suspension is a mixture in which the particles settle after some time. It's particles are bigger than colloid and suspension. It does not allow light to pass through and hence is opaque.
