"Oliver Twist" was written by the famous novelist Charles dickens.
The members of the board were not at all nice or a boy like Oliver. A board member named Mr limbkins even thought that Oliver would surely be hanged to death.
The children belonged to impoverished sections in the workhouse and the masters were quite rich in terms of their lifestyle and appearance.
Every child in the workhouse were given little bit of food and they had to work a lot. So Oliver was even very hungry and wanted some more food for himself. For example, only half of one bread roll was given to them on Sundays.
At last, we get the reference of Mr Maylies and also that Oliver started to work as a teacher in a school of Himachal Pradesh.
There are many people around us who suffer liken Oliver. we need to help them by every way possible.
The members of this board were very wise and philosophical men. As they turned
their attention to the workhouse, they discovered that it was the regular place of public
entertainment for the poorer classes. It was the place where they had breakfast, dinner, tea,
and supper all the year round and free; where it was all play and no work. This was really a
shocking state of affairs. They were of the opinion that the poor should be given only two
alternatives - either to starve quickly outside the workhouse, or gradually inside the house.
With this view, they decided that the inmates of the workhouse would be issued three meals
of thin gruel a day, with an onion twice a week.
