I’ll start of with why, Most Storm Chasers have their own reason to chase wether it’s personal or not. MY reason to chase is to collect data that will save lives and increase lead time on warnings, and I love severe weather. The job of a Storm Chaser is to collect data that is used by various Weather organizations to help increase survival rate and decrease damage if possible. To become a Certified storm Chaser you will need to take a SKYWARN Class with the NWS (if you are in the US), my recommendation is also get a degree in Meteorology and have your CPR and First Aid Certifications. More often than not, Storm Chasers are The FIRST on the scene to a disaster so being able to render aid is KEY.
