Soil required for growing lentil or masoor Dal is mainly alluvial soil because mainly the pulses need more quantity of water, nutrients and moisture to grow thus it is favourable to the pulses plant to grow up in alluvial soil.

I hope this is helpful

Lentil is adapted to all soil types, from sand to clay loam, if there is good internal drainage. Lentil does not tolerate flooded or waterlogged soils, and does best on deep, sandy loam soils high in phosphorus and potassium. It is well suited for cultivation. Roots of plants get enough water, air, and space to grow. Suitable Crops: Loamy soil is ideal for growing crops such as wheat, sugarcane, cotton, jute, pulses, and oilseeds.
