Sibia, the main character in “The Blue Bead” by Norah Burke, has many different defining

characteristics. First, Sibia was a very hard working child. Sibia lived in and underdeveloped nation in

Africa, where she had to work in order to eat and have a home. She has been working for a very long

time. This was described in the book as “Sibia, in all her life from birth to death, was marked for work”

stating how she had always been working and shall always work (58) . In addition to being

hardworking; Sibia was courageous and strong. She lived in a land where many beasts roam, therefore,
