▶Algae are chlorophyll bearing, simple, autotrophic organisms.

▶The form and size of algae is highly variable, the size ranges from the microscopic unicellular forms like Chlamydomonas, to colonial forms like Volvox and to the filamentous forms like Ulthorix andSpirogyra.

▶The algae reproduce by vegetative (by fragmentation), asexual (through spore formation) and sexual (through fusion of male and female gametes )methods .
