In the 2nd Part of Coleridge's "The Rime of an Ancient Mariner", the ship entered a silent sea devoid of any wind, because of which it remained static. The sailors gradually became seasick and became desperate to go homeward. Every night, due to the reflection of the sunset rays by the dust particles, the sea water adopted hues of green, blue and white, that made the surrounding look like a witch's cauldron. In addition to the near-death situation of the sailors, the ancient mariner described the whole scenario as a burning witch's cauldron (also because of their superstition regarding the bad omen of killing the albatross) in which the sailors were trapped.
