Louis XVI finally recognised the National Assembly and accepted the constitution. On 4th August, 1789, Francepassed the law for abolishing the feudal system of obligations and taxes. The member of clergy were also forced to give up their privileges. Tithes were abolished and lands owned by the Church were confiscated..

The abolition of the feudal system was the law passed by the National Assembly on 4 august 1789

  • On the night of 4 august 1789 the National Constituent Assembly announced to abolish feudalism entirely.
  • It was the aftereffect of the French Revolution.
  • The representatives of the National Assembly has declared themselves as an Assembly on June 1789.
  • A constitution for France was drafted by them.
  • They canceled the power of the actual Monarchy.
  • The King Louis XV1 was aware of the fact that his powers would be checked by the Constitution.
  • And this assembly proclaimed to abolish the feudal system that was practiced in France.
  • All the rights and powers which were given to the clergy of the church were also taken back.
  • The tax collected by the church was also seized by the assembly.
  • The Government acquired huge assets by this action
  • And after that France became Constitutional Monarchy
  • Powers were distributed among three different institutions instead of concentrating in the hands of one person.
  • The three different institutions were the Legislative, the Executive and the Judiciary.
