Saint Peter became angry at her greed because she did not give a piece of cake to Saint Peter to satiate his hunger. When he cursed the lady, she turned into a bird. She flew through the chimney. Finally, she became a woodpecker. ( visit to myCBSEguide for all Solution of NCERT/ RD SHARMA)

Saint Peter was annoyed with the little woman because he was upset at the lack of humanity and kindness in the woman. She had a large store of cakes but was os greedy that she would not part even with the thinnest one. She did not have a heart to feed a Saint who was feeling faint with hunger and fatigue.
Hope it helps!
