What led the British to record every aspect of their administration in India?

In order to check the control over the india and as well as what they owned led to development of civil sevice and also the govern on india. Their main aim was to become famous on behalf of future people on the land which they owned in india. So we find many names about the british people in History book. All their records were said to be the inventions of the past.

The British recorded every aspect of their administration in India as it helped them to administer better and gave them useful insights of happenings in every part of India. Moreover, it helped them to check corruption and maintain a reference for future.

The Junior British officers were responsible to the seniors who in turn were responsible to Governor-General, Secretary of State and the British parliament.

They were not answerable to anybody as they were the head themselves
