the ethnics composition of Belgium was very complex of the country's total population 40 percent were French and 59 percent were Dutch . It was more acute in the capital city Brussels because in 80 percent spoke frnch while 20 percent spoke Dutch. The minority French speaking community was relatively Rich and powerful.
