Answer:
There are many reasons for the separation of East Pakistan from the elections of 1970 and the boycott of Zulifqar Ali bhutto and we are not forgetting india’s role in it.
Elections of 1970:
The result of 1970 elections were clear. Awami league totally won the election by getting 160 seats in the assembly out of 300. Zulifqar Ali bhutto got 80 seats in the West Pakistan. He should have accepted his defeat and should have worked with the leaders of East pakistan. (Mujeeb - ur rehman). Instead of that he refused to go to East pakistan for cabinet meetings he totally boycotted it. Due to this many conflicts were born between the people of both nations and its leaders.
Uneven distribution of resources :
One of most strongest reason which played it part very well in the sepration was the uneven distribution of resources. When Majeeb ur rehman came to Islamabad. he said, ‘’ i smell cotton from the roads of Islamabad ‘’. Everyone knows that East Pakistan (Bangladesh) is famous for its cotton. This even triggered the emotions of people of East Pakistan.
After the elections, conflicts between people were increased. West pakistanis raped the women of East pakistan. India played a major rule in it. Some of indian teachers in West Pakistan created lingual barriers. They manipulated the students by not letting them learn Urdu. They started many resolutions. On 16th December 1971 Mujeeb ur Rehman waved the flag of Bangladesh. India entered his forces in East pakistan due to huge distance between both Pakistans. West Pakistan failed to defend its land. At that time Pakistan was fighting with the people and authorities of East pakistan.
On 16th December 1971 Bangladesh came into being..
