In 1815, the Republic abolishedthe slave trade but the decree did not come into effect until 1826. France re-abolished slavery in her colonies in 1848 with a general and unconditional emancipation.

slavery in france was first abolished during maximillians rule. It was then re established during napoleons rule. it was finally abolished in 1833. Slave system started because the farmers of europe  france and america had large lands . They needed labour , so they brought laborers from africa. This resulted in a trade of slaves between these three countries.
