The differences among the members (of INC) in the ways and methods of presenting their demands lead to Surat Split 1907.

The division of Indian National Congress into groups-Moderates and Extremists at Surat session in 1907 is known as Surat Split.

The moderates used prayers, petitions and protests in presenting their demands while as extremists believed in boycott, strikes and agitation to force their demands. The moderates were not able to achieve their notable goals through their moderate methods which lead the extremists to follow the extreme methods.

The moderates were not happy with the methods of extremists while as the extremists were not happy with the methods of moderates. Secondly there was a clash over the venue and Presidentship of the  Congress session which lead to Surat Split in 1907.
