Subsistence crisis is a situation in which the basics need of the people are in danger.

During french revolution the following situation let to subsistence crisis -:

•Population increased from 23 million in 1715 to 28 million in 1789 so the demand of food increased which led to increase of the price of food.

• When drought of food came the grains that were sowed by the farmers in the field got destroyed which further led to subsistence crisis.
