What led to the uprising in the Khari Hills ?

Khasi hills are located in meghalya. which receive more rains it is due to khasi hills. The Khasi uprising took place in 1833 in the regions between the Khasi hills and Jaintia Hills, against a planned British Road in that area. The leader of this uprising was Tirot Sing Syiem.
