Different countries follow different procedures when a Police officer has to arrest someone.
In India, a definitive procedure is followed.
In the very outset, the police officer must tell the individual the reason for their arrest while arresting.
Next, the officer must be in full uniform with nameplate.
If the accused person is willing to go with the police, then no restraint can be used by them.
The police must have an Arrest warrant at the time of arrest or prepare one as soon as they enter the police station with the accused.
It must be signed by two independent witnesses.
Any arrest made must be recorded, in a special register, at the police station and the District Control Room must be informed about it.
The person arrested must be produced before a Magistrate within 24 hours of the arrest. This is mandated by law.
