‘The Friendly Mongoose’ is a story about a farmer and his wife. They had a son and they loved him very much. The boy wanted to have a companion pet. The farmer to fulfil the boy’s request took baby mongoose back home. One day, the baby's mother wanted to go to the market. But she asked the farmer not to leave her son alone with the mongoose. The farmer dismissed his wife’s fear then goes out later to see his friends. After returning the farmer’s wife returns to find a blood-stained mongoose. This offends her, she believes it killed her baby, and she throws him in a basket and thus killing it. But later she found out that it protected her son from snakes and hence was covered in the snake’s blood. She was devastated and regretted her decision immediately.
