What light does the opening scene throw on the danger that the sea could
pose to ships? How does the scene show that Antony is very confident about
his business venture?

Explanation:

Antonio is worried that he will lose everything if his ships do not return safely to port. This alludes to the fact that when the ships are sailing through dangerous waters and weather, their fates are uncertain.

Answer:

In the 1st Scene Antonio is described as a melancholic character. Salarino and Salanio say that he is sad because of his ship thinking about all the danger it may face in the sea.The harsh winds flowing in the sea, the shallow water and the flat shore, the dangerous rocks are all those hazards which may cause damage to the ship.

But after listening to Salanio and Salarino's assumptions Antonio strainght away refuses to accept the fact as all his profits are not dependent upon one ship.
