This play shows how the modern generation doesn't value the previous generations and how they act infront of then just to get a piece of their property. The play highlights this problem of this modern society by the example of two ladies and their father. They how they daughters doesn't even care that Abel Merryweather is dead but rather starts dividing his property among themselves. One daughter even steals the clock and bureau from the grandfather's room. They didn't even bother to call a doctor to check if Abel is dead or not.
