Definition

Logistic growth is when growth rate decreases as the population reaches carrying capacity.

Detail

The major limitation as scientific model of growth is that it assumes the desire for growth remains constant with appropriate resources always at hand. In real situations this is impossible. there all always limits on resources available, usually food for life forms. The simplest model that includes these constraints is the logistic growth function. This function has a limiting maximum population. Most introductory calculus texts explore this function in more detail.
