Life after death

Explanation:

We say a person is dead when his heart stops beating. The cause of death can be a heart attack or various other reasons.  When a person stops breathing, the brain shuts down and all life processes in the body begin to cease.

With the advent of modern technologies in medicine like artificial breathing and other intensive care medicine, we have come to learn that, once a person is dead, the life processes in the body don't cease immediately. After the heart stops beating, the cells inside their body, including the brain, begin their own death process. We had thought that we had only five or 10 minutes before brain cells died, from a lack of oxygen, but we have found that it's different. It takes hours, if not days, before the brain and other organs in the body are irreversibly damaged after death. So life after death in the sense of all cells dying actually takes longer than we think.
