Ammu, of course, loves her children. ... All Velutha does is to make them happy, loving them and accepting them. This must be one of the reasons, a big reason, why “She loves by night the man her children love by day”
The novel ends with Ammu saying to Velutha, "Tomorrow" (21.82), because that's the only thing she can guarantee him. We've spent the whole book knowing what's going to happen and trying to figure out how it happened, so in a way, the ending
