At first, Bholi was frightened to hear about school. However, when she was properly cared for, given good clothes and other things, she began to believe that she was being taken to a better place than her home. Moreover, she told her that she could overcome her stammering completely if she came to school daily.

Answer:Bholi was nervous about being taken to school as she did not knew what a place called school actually was. She remembered about how their cow (Lakshmi) was taken away and sold a few days ago, thinking of which she was frightened that she was being dragged out of the house and refused to go to school. But when Bholi’s father asked her mother to dress her decently and rub some oil in her hair. Earlier she was never paid so much attention, it is when Bholi realized that she was being taken to a place better than home. It reveals that her parents never paid any heed to Bholi. Bholi was treated as a second grade member in the family. Her parents had a discriminatory attitude towards her.
