Answer:

The Non-cooperation movement was withdrawn because of the Chauri Chaura incident. Although he had stopped the national revolt single-handedly, on 10 March 1922, Gandhi was arrested. This led to suppression of the movement and was followed by the arrest of other leaders.

Answer:

Chauri Chauraha incident

Explanation:

Gandhiji intended the Non-Cooperation movement to be non-violent. But people interpreted his message differently as the movement took a violent turn. A large group of protesters, participating in the Non-cooperation movement, clashed with police, who opened fire. In retaliation the demonstrators attacked and set fire to a police station, killing all of its occupants.

Gandhiji was strictly against non-violence and decided to withdraw the movement.

Hope it helps!
