What made Lavinia think that her husband John had an affair with a woman ? What was actually happened with John?

lavinia think so when in the Ouija board party the ghost (Helen) appeared ,she said some words as...TRAITOR and ASK HIM ...in the party everyone was watching John with suspicion and this make lavinia to think that her husband John has an affair with a women . but actually Helen warned John to not to use Ouija board but when lavinia use Ouija board Helen became angry and appeared on it to blame John.
