what made Mrs hall change her opinion about the stranger and what change do you notice in her attitude towards the in stranger?
Answers
Mrs. Hall was very protective about the stranger initially. She always defended his strangeness. However, certain things happened that changed her attitude to the stranger. The incident that changed her thinking about the stranger the most was the ‘furniture went mad episode’ and its correlation with the burglary at the vicarage.
One morning, as Mrs. and Mr. Hall were inspecting the stranger’s empty room, the articles in the room began behaving abnormally. Firstly the bed-clothes leapt up at them followed by stranger’s hat dashing at Mrs. Hall’s face. Then, the chair accompanied by the laughter resembling the stranger’s laughter charged at her forcing her and her husband out of the room.
After this Mrs. Hall decided to oust the stranger from her inn. She refused to serve him any meals. She insisted she would serve him only if he cleared all his pending bills.
