Here in this chapter, it has been shown that Pierre thought of taking the pie to the mayor's house.

However at some point, we do not really know the exact reason for it. We are told that Pierre had told Gultier that the pie would have to be taken to the house of the mayor as the latter was quite grateful with pie.

The main objective behind all this was to part with the Tart.
