Ram Narayan himself had rose from rags to riches when he won a medal in Olympics.  This event brought him an unimaginable fame and respect that he could never get before. He could see a great athlete in making in Tarun. He was poor at studies but could excel in sports that is why Ram Narayan have cited an example of ups and downs before Tarun.
