Answers
Answer :
Bholi was the fourth daughter of Numberdar Ramlal. She was slow-witted and had a stammering problem as she had fallen off the cot on her head during childhood and it had caused some permanent damage to her brain. She was also quite ugly as black pockmarks from a small-pox attack during childhood scarred her face and entire body.
The Tehsildar had come to inaugurate a primary school for girls in Numberdar Ramlal's village and asked him to set an example for the villagers by sending his daughters to school. However, Ramlal's wife strongly disapproved of the idea as she felt that nobody would marry such girls. As Bholi had no prospects of marriage because of her unattractiveness and low intelligence, both Ramlal and his wife agreed to send her to school.
