the duck wore two pairs of worsted socks to cover his feet and to keep the cold out as the kangaroo was reluctant to carry the duck on its back because the duck's feet were cold and would probable give him the roo-martiz. The duck bought a cloak and promised that everyday he will smoke a cigar so the the kangaroo will not get any trouble. So the kangaroo agreed to the duck's proposal.
