Answers
The narrator, Hari Singh was a thief and wanted to steal the money from the beginning, but he didn't get a chance. But when he saw that Anil had come with a lot of money one day, he stole the money. He did it because he thought Anil wasn’t paying him any salary and would probably waste the money on his own friends. He took the 600 rupees and went to the railway station. He wanted to move to another city so Anil couldn't catch him. But when he reached the station, he realised that the conscience of Anil was good and if he stayed with Anil he could have learned to read and write and could have become a clever and respected person in society. He wanted to mend his ways and earn his own livelihood. So, he came back and put the money under the mattress. (150 words)
