The revolutionaries threw bomb at the Legislative Assembly not to harm the assembly but to protest against the passing of few bills such as repressive bills, the public safety bill and the "trade dispute bill".  

EXPLANATION:

      "Batukeshwar Dutt" was an Indian revolutionary and the fighter of independence in the early 1900. He had thrown few number of bombs with the Bhagat Singh in the "Central Legislative assembly" in "New Delhi" on 8th April 1929.

     They threw smoke bombs not to harm anyone the people or the nation, but to show their hatred against the introduction of two repressive bills, "the public safety bill" and "the trade dispute bill". For this, Bhagat Singh got death penalty and Dutt got life imprisonment. The courage of these two fighters was one among the reasons for Indian Independence.
