two boys took part in resistance movemont because of their fathers death and because of their house has been bombed.

g4foor: they have taken part in resistance movement because their house has been destroyed by the germans and their father had been also killed at the starting of the war

War shattered the home of Jacopo and Nicola.... their father who was a widower was killed in the war... their sister Lucia was suffering from Tuberculosis of the spine... all these things made the boys to take part in the resistance movement

AparnaSunil: just adding on: The war destroyed Jacopo and Nicola's family and even made them homeless. This created a sense of hatred for the Germans in the minds of the young boys. This is what made them one of the first people to join the resistance.
